Scams, scams and more scams

WATCH OUT!

Well everyone, it's happening again...keep your ears and eyes out for the latest scams, cons, tricks or whatever nasty words you'd like to call them.

There are still high numbers of phone calls going around at the moment claiming to be from Microsoft who apparently detect a problem with your computer, ask for access to it and then supposedly "fix it". DON'T DO IT! They actually "break" the PC and then try and charge you an arm and a leg! Microsoft wouldn't ring you for starters...

Also, another scam going around is a Paypal email scam which could vary in price however it all comes down to money. The Paypal message basically reads that a transaction is going out of your account click here to decline. You then "Click here" fill out your login information and....wait for it...BAM! They have your details to steal money from you...don't do it, it's fake!

Also, another one going around is a BT one where the caller says they're from BT and you have an outstanding bill. Now this probably wouldn't wash with those who are so up on their accounts that they know what has gone in and out of the account like the back of their hand. However, for those who don't really worry to much about it and just pay it watch out...the called says if you don't pay they'll cut you off....well BT can't just do that, they have to give you fair warning. Anyways, the caller says they'll prove it by cutting your phone off. When you hang up and try to dial you apparently can't. This is because the caller is hanging on the phone. When you've finished panicking and hang up they ring off, call again and say "There you go, now pay up". Again, don't do it! BT wouldn't do such a thing.

There are plenty of other scams at the moment online and plenty of these really naff adverts which you really shouldn't click on! To help ensure you don't see these online adverts and to help block pop-ups (not completely pop-up proof but certainly helps). Use Google Chrome for browsing the internet and install "AdBlock" from the extensions library. The version that I find works best is the one with the white hand in an octagon (seen below).

Don't forget to get yourself a decent anti-virus software which can actually protect you online, check links, safe browsing etc.

Business Phone and Broadband Charges Revised

Before we take on the New Year we have looked into the practicality of our business phone and broadband charges and realised a few elements after testing the water with a few customers.

After much thought and attention we decided to change the way we currently offer our business phone and broadband services.

Currently, the pricing structure looks like this:

  • Business Line Rental - £12+VAT
  • Business Unlimited Broadband - £12+VAT
  • Unlimited Anytime Calls - £6+VAT

All calls have a small connection fee ranging from 5p+VAT and up.

All providers charge some sort of connection fee on calls...somewhere.

Not only this but we have also noticed that charging for unlimited anytime calls doesn't always work out to be practical for a business customer. Let me explain why...

We charge £6+VAT per month for unlimited anytime calls to 01 & 02 numbers.
Customers pay for this but actually when we look at the costs incurred they've only accrued about £2-3 in call charges...so you're paying an extra £3-4 on top of that...for what? You haven't really used it.

We know "Unlimited Calls" sounds good but do we really use the "Unlimited" to its full extent?

With this said we're doing something radical to our current charges and therefore the new pricing structure will look like this

  • Business Line Rental - £12+VAT (Our business lines automatically come with Care Level 2 which ensures priority and extended hours of support)
  • Business Unlimited Broadband - £12+VAT
  • No Call Connection Fees to Standard Numbers (Some special numbers incur a connection fee which we cannot escape from).
  • All UK National Geographic (Local/National) - 1p+VAT per minute
  • UK Mobile Networks (3, Orange, T-Mobile, O2 & Vodafone) - 4p+VAT per minute
For more details on our business phone and broadband please visit our website page below

Remember we only offer quality, Tier 1, Business Phone and Broadband connections

Scam warning

This is the perfect time of year where everyone is trying get a bit of extra cash to pay for Christmas presents and the like.

WATCH OUT!

We have had a few customers explaining to us that they are getting phone calls this time of year saying "they are from Microsoft" and that the computer "has a security issue". They supposedly fix it for free, after disabling your anti virus, and then ask you for over £100 to cover the next so many years. DO NOT DO IT!
Microsoft will never contact you like that, do not give them access to your PC and do not give them any details.

If you feel your computer IS at risk or has been acting strangely recently it may just be in need of a little TLC.

If or when you should receive this call, feel free to contact us, we provide free phone support/re-assurance. Our phone number is 01822 613154
